MINSEP reassures the population

Professor Narcisse Kombi Mouelle gives a news conference at SAWA hotel on the eve of the AFCON quarter finals; to be played at JAPOMA. AFCON Cameroon 2021 started off in grand style and must end in grandeur.

44 matches have been played so far, 43 successful matches under professional conditions and one tragic match. A stampede with 8 persons lifeless and many injured at Olembe.

Several matches have been played in the other stadiums; Bafoussam- Kouekong
Limbe – Omnisport
Douala- JAPOMA
Garoua – Roumdé Adjia
Yaoundé – Amadou Ahidjo:
without any incident.

Football permits us to celebrate Africa through professional and beautiful football.  This football jamboree started showing traces of a spectacular rainbow since the 17th August with fixtures of the 33rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in the presence of football legends.

Last CHAN has entered history as the most beautiful and successful edition of football competitions held in Africa and Cameroon in particular.

Besides football, we have hosted other sports competitions such as:
Afrobasket Women
Chantal Biya Cycling tour,
Fifa world cup eliminatory matches,  Quatar 2024.

The entire country has got quality sports infrastructure constructed and dedicated to this illustrious AFCON. We are in the process of respecting our engagement to offer the best.

We salute the panafrican vision of the President of CAF, Patrice Montsepe.
Cameroon has constructed and renovated under firm instructions of the Head of State, H.E Paul Biya, the various sectors  related to an effective AFCON such as: Telecommunications, highways, hotels, health facilities- hospitals. The various towns have known a remarkable face lifting in line with this continental feast.

The various towns have offered hospitality to our visitors which has generated appreciation from the 24 federations participating in this competition.

Due to the Olembe incident, security has been reinforced to ensure that the competition continues in peace, confidence and greater satisfaction. A systematic control of tickets will be done at the various checkpoints, well filtered and secured by forces of law and order.

50years after, the story is a prestigious one. Cameroon will play against Gambia at JAPOMA tomorrow.
